A flavourful and versatile tomato sauce is such an amazing staple to have in your kitchen. It’s really worth making a big batch while you’re at it – do this on the weekend, when you have time. You can add almost any protein to this sauce. For some recipes the sauce can be the base for the meal (see the Easy chicken parmesan in the tips in the recipe) and other times it’s a delicious accompaniment.

This recipe is another great one-pot wonder! It uses basic, everyday ingredients, so it’s a sure family favourite! A potjie is traditionally made outside on the fire, but this one is made inside, in a large pot. This means that you don’t have to wait all day to enjoy a delicious potjie. We made this traditional recipe extra South African by steaming herb and mealie meal dumplings on top of the flavourful sauce. Perfect food for this weekend!

The Italians love a rich tomato sauce with meatballs on pasta – we’ve added a South African twist by using traditional boerewors to create quick meatballs. You’re going to want to make this again and again!

This salad is made for a crowd, just perfect to make at your next braai when you need to feed lots of tummies. Unlike a heavy mayonnaise-based coleslaw this slaw is light and refreshing! The Asian-inspired dressing with soya sauce, ginger and chilli pairs perfectly with the sweet pineapple and crunchy veggies.
