Refreshing drinks 3 / Verfrissende drankies 3

Skink ‘n yskoue glas vol kleur en geur! Die twee stylvolle drankies lyk nie net mooi nie, maar is absoluut heerlik en regtig verfrissend. Drankies hoef beslis nie onnodig soet of met alkohol gemaak te word, om prettig en feestelik te wees nie. Met die regte kombinasie van bestanddele kan jy elke keer ‘n ander kleur en geur skep.

Resepte (Afrikaans)

Bessie, suurlemoen & tiemie met borrels

Genoeg vir 4 glase

Ja, jy lees die metode reg. Die drankie word sommer in ’n amper leë konfytflessie gemeng. ’n Slim plan om nie ’n druppel van die laaste bessie- of aarbeikonfyt in die fles te laat verlore gaan nie.

Bestandele

125 ml (½ k) yswater

45 ml (3 e) nastergal- of aarbeikonfyt

8 klein takkies vars tiemie of -suurlemoentiemie

dun repies suurlemoenskil

gebreekte ys

ongeveer 400-500 ml tonikum of borrrelwater, verkoel

eetbare blomme, soos laventel of komkommerkruidblommetjies (borage) vir garnering

ekstra takkies tiemie en repies suurlemoenskil, vir garnering

Metode

  1. Skink die yswater in die konfytfles, draai die fles toe en skud dit goed – dit werk uitstekend om die konfyt effens te verdun.
  2. Sit die tiemietakkies en repe suurlemoenskil by en skud weer goed. Skep ys in die glase en verdeel die konfytmengsel tussen die glase. Vul elke glas met die tonikum of borrelwater op.
  3. Garneer met eetblare blomme, ekstra tiemie en suurlemoenskil. Sit dadelik voor.

NOTA: die drankie op die foto is met Heerlijk se nastergal gemaak om die treffende pers kleur te kry.

Vir ’n bietjie skop: skink ’n sopie of skeut gin of vodka in elke glas. Of vervang die tonikum of borrelwater met vonkelwyn vir ’n spesiale drankie.

 

Framboos-&-lemmetjievonkel

Genoeg vir 4 glase

Met net ’n paar bestanddele kan jy dié verfrissende drankie optower. Dis so eenvoudig, maar die frambose en lemmetjie is ’n uitstekende kombinasie.

Bestandele

250 ml (1 k) gevriesde of vars frambose, of gebruik gemengde bevrore bessies

30 ml (2 e) vars lemmetjiesap

4 x 200 ml blikkies limonade of 1 liter bottel, verkoel

vars lemmetjiewiggies vir garnering

gedroogde of vars roosblare of ander eetbare blommetjies vir garnering

Metode

  1. Breek die bessies met ’n vurk kleiner en verdeel die bessies tussen die glase. Skink die lemmetjiesap en limonade oor en garneer met lemmetjiewiggies en roosblare of eetbare blomme.
  2. Sit ys by as jy nie gevriesde bessies gebruik nie.

Vir ’n bietjie skop: vervang die limonade met yskoue vonkelwyn of skink vir elkeen ’n sopie of skeut gin by of vodka.

Recipes (English)

Berries, lemon & time with bubbles

Makes 4 glasses

Yes, you read the method correctly. This drink is made in a jam or preserve jar. This is a clever way to make sure you use the last bit of the berry or strawberry jam that’s left in the jar, with no waste.

Ingredients

125 ml (½ cup) ice water

45 ml (3 tbsp) nastergal (umsobo preserve) or strawberry jam

8 small sprigs fresh thyme or lemon thyme

thin strips of lemon rind

crushed ice

about 400-500 ml tonic water or sparkling water, chilled

edible flowers, like lavender or borage for garnish

extra sprigs of thyme and lemon zest for garnish

Method

  1. Pour the iced water into the jam jar, close the lid, and give it a good shake– this works well to thin down the jam a bit.
  2. Add the thyme sprigs and strips of lemon rind and shake well again. Place crushed ice into the glasses and divide the jam mixture between the glasses. Top each glass up with the tonic or sparkling water.
  3. Garnish with edible flowers, extra thyme and strips of lemon zest. Serve immediately.

NOTE: the drink in the photo was made using Heerlijk’s nastergal preserve, to get that striking purple colour.

For a kick: add a shot or a dash of gin or vodka to each glass. Alternatively, replace the tonic or sparkling water with chilled MCC (bubbly) for a special drink.

Raspberry & lime cooler

Makes 4 glasses

With just three ingredients you can create this refreshing drink. It’s so simple and the raspberries and lime are one excellent combination.

Ingredients

250 ml (1 cup) frozen or fresh raspberries, or mixed frozen berries

30 ml (2 tbsp) fresh lime juice

4 x 200 ml tins lemonade or 1 litre bottle, chilled

fresh lime wedges for garnish

dried or fresh rose petals or any other edible flowers

Method

  1. Crush the berries with a fork to create smaller pieces and divide them between the glasses. Pour the lime juice over and top each glass with the lemonade.
  2. Garnish each glass with lime wedges and rose petals or edible flowers. Add ice if you are not using frozen berries.

For an extra kick: substitute the lemonade for ice-cold MCC (bubbly). Alternatively, add a dash or a shot of gin or vodka into everyone’s glass.
