Chicken potjie with herb dumplings

Chicken potjie with herb dumplings

This recipe is another great one-pot wonder! It uses basic, everyday ingredients, so it’s a sure family favourite! A potjie is traditionally made outside on the fire, but this one is made inside, in a large pot. This means that you don’t have to wait all day to enjoy a delicious potjie. We made this traditional recipe extra South African by steaming herb and mealie meal dumplings on top of the flavourful sauce. Perfect food for this weekend!

Oven-roasted mushrooms with crème fraîche

You could almost not get a simpler dish to make if you tried, but the subtle flavours will not be easily forgotten. I have served these mushrooms as a starter or a more luxurious salad. It’s also delicious on toasted Italian bread or skewered on a stick as a canapé with drinks. Use as a ‘sauce’ on a piece of steak or a chicken fillet. Choose a variety of ordinary and wild mushrooms for an interesting taste.

It sounds a little different but is so flavourful. Once you try it, you’ll want to add it to everything.
