Food from the heart is an international award winning recipe book containing a collection of authentic dishes from all over South Africa. Heleen Meyer takes the cooking enthusiast on a quest for flavours that will remind you of your mother’s and grandmothers’ kitchens and that element that binds everything together – nostalgia. Well-known South African food experts, Cass Abrahams and Ina Paarman shared firm favourites and fool-proof recipes like Ina’s Home-baked cheesecake, her celebrated Roasted butternut soup with fresh coriander and Ouma Anna’s Karoo lamb pie. Cass contributed some of her signature dishes such as Denningvleis, Pienang curry and Boeber. Other recipes include a Mussel and fish soup, Calitzdorp croissants, Pumpkin fritters with a twist, Old-fashioned chicken curry, Saucy chocolate and nut pudding and Golden pear and apple crumble.
